FAQs
Cecii Gut Shot is packed with real fruit and vegetables, giving you more natural micronutrients than kombucha or water kefir. Our unique fermentation method is inspired by peer-reviewed research on lacto-fermented juices and gut health — with precise control over temperature and microbial activity for consistent quality and a clean, refreshing taste (without the sharp vinegar kick).
Lacto-fermentation is a natural process where beneficial bacteria convert sugars in fruit and vegetable juices into lactic acid. This not only preserves the ingredients but also develops layers of flavour and produces beneficial compounds that your gut will love. It’s one of the oldest — and tastiest — ways to make food both delicious and functional.
Yes — all Cecii shots are 100% plant-based, naturally gluten-free, and dairy-free. However, they’re made in a commercial kitchen that also handles all major allergens. While our recipes use only vegan and gluten-free ingredients, we have not applied for official trademark certification.
Our current recipes do not contain any of the 14 major allergens. However, they are made in a facility that also handles certain allergens, so we cannot guarantee they are completely allergen-free. Always check the label before drinking.
Yes — our fermentation process starts with 2 billion gut-friendly bacteria in every bottle. While we haven’t measured how many remain all the way through the shelf life or how much reaches the gut, we follow proven fermentation techniques and strict quality controls to preserve as much of their goodness as possible. We’re also continually refining our recipes to maximise their natural benefits.
Keep Cecii shots chilled in the fridge (0–5°C) to keep them fresh and tasting their best. If left out at room temperature for too long, the natural fermentation may restart, causing a little CO₂ to build up — which can make the bottles swell. It’s harmless, but best avoided by keeping them cold.
Our shots are made and stored in a certified commercial kitchen in South East London. The facility holds a 5★ Food Hygiene Rating for its building and surrounding environment, ensuring strict standards of cleanliness, safety, and quality at every stage.
Unopened shots stay at their best for up to 3 months from production when kept in the fridge. You’ll find the “best before” date on the bottle cap. Once opened, enjoy within 5 days, keeping the cap closed and the bottle refrigerated between servings.
We make our shots in small batches in London, keeping production local and transport impact low. Our juices are sourced from the UK when in season, and from Europe off-season to reduce air miles. All our packaging — bottles, caps, labels, and boxes — is fully recyclable, and we choose PET over glass for a lighter transport footprint. We’re committed to improving our materials and sourcing as we grow, and we use organic ginger juice in every batch.
Yes. Every batch of Cecii shots is made in a compliant premise under a full HACCP plan, with strict protocols for production, handling, packing, and storage. Each batch is tested for key quality markers — including pH and microbial safety — to ensure it meets our standards from the first bottle to the last. All shelf-life and nutritional testing is carried out in a UKAS-accredited lab here in the UK.
No — our fermented juices contain less than 0.1% alcohol, as confirmed by independent lab testing for the full duration of their shelf life. However, if they’re left at room temperature for several days, the natural fermentation may restart and create a small amount of alcohol. To keep them at their best, always store Cecii shots in the fridge.
